Exercises to help get out of bed

Hand stretches

If you are looking for exercises to help get out of bed, we have got you covered. Hand stretches are a very important exercise that can help you build up the strength you will need to get out of bed in the first place. You can do these exercises by stretching your fingers out as far as they will go, then balling them up into a fist. These hand exercises are important because they can improve your blood flow and keep your hands strong so that you can continue to do activities that you love.

Bridge stretch

This is a helpful exercise that can be done both in and out of bed. You have probably seen this stretch many times before, but here’s a quick explanation. To perform the bridge stretch, lay on your back with your knees bent and touching. Proceed to lift your buttocks in the air and hold it for at least three seconds. Repeat this 10 times and be sure to do it more than once per week. This exercise will help strengthen the muscles in your buttocks, which will allow you to turn over in bed easier.

Core strengthening

As obvious as it is, the benefits of a strong core for people of all ages should always be stated. By having a strong core, it is more likely that you will be able to easily get out of bed. A strong core can help keep your back in good shape and reduce the chance of injury while switching your sleeping position. To strengthen your core, lie on your back with your knees bent as in the previous tip. Lift one leg and then lower it, repeating this for each leg at least 8 times per session. You should plan on doing this exercise at least twice a week, but more than that is also a good idea.

Arm flexing

We have talked about a few lower body exercises, so now it is time to cover an upper-body exercise. If you would like to increase your arm strength while laying in bed, arm flexing and stretching can help you with that. To do this exercise, simply extend your arms straight upwards for around 10 seconds. This exercise will help you increase blood circulation and flow, while also building strength in your entire arms and shoulders. You can do this exercise multiple times per day and it will pay off by keeping your arms strong.
