What actually happens when she presses the button
She presses one button and the whole bed rises and tilts forward until her feet are on the floor and she is most of the way to standing. Two quiet motors move her slowly and smoothly, with no sudden movement, and the arm rails give her something to hold the whole way up. The remote is a simple handheld with large buttons, and it lives in a pocket on the arm rail so it is never on the floor. The rest of the night it is a normal bed: lying flat, sitting up to read, legs raised, on a real 6-inch firm memory foam mattress.
